So how do you transition from a professor who teaches physical classes to an online instructor?  Start where you teach now.  Many universities offer classes that are also broadcast online.  This will give you the opportunity to interact with students differently than the ones that come to a classroom.  It will give you an idea how to help them prepare for tests and how to help them pass your class.  From that beginning, you can go online and research various institutions that offer online classes and degrees.  Tell them about your experience, how you learned from it and how you succeeded.  You might even want to take a class or two yourself.  Then you can see how a online education provider uses technology to teach classes and how the professor interacts with students.  The virtual world is waiting for you.  If you want to get out into it an teach, there really is nothing holding you back.
