Reading is considered to be one of the best leisure activities that a person can have. It is because, this is an activity through which a person can not only relax himself but can also learn a lot. Let us try to look as to why it is regarded as the best hobby.

People who are ardent readers of the books feel that reading a book gives them more pleasure than watching TV and traveling to different places. For instance, if they are reading a novel which is set in the city of London, people may feel that they are traveling in the beautiful lanes of that city.

When they read that there is a florist shop by the roadside with a number of beautiful flowers and the protagonist of the novel presents a red flower to his wife. At this moment, a person who is reading novel may feel that he is able to see all the events in front of his eyes. It is like watching a beautiful movie with the help of your own imagination and visualization skills. Such is the pleasure of reading books.

Reading books helps people in enhancing their language skills as well. A lot of people are under the impression that reading means only literary books but this is not the case. Books of different kinds are available in the market and a person can read book on any subject which is of their interest. To get a good listing of the right books that you want, go and visit the canada 411 website.

If a person is interested in science subject, he can read books that are on this subject. Reading of this kind would enhance the knowledge of the person in this field. It is the best activity.

Attending class is important no matter what type of education you’re pursuing. Sadly, some college students think they can miss classes due to the fact that instructors and professors don’t take attendance and there are no immediate consequences from higher authorities for poor attendance. Missing class is a bad policy that will have repercussions in the future.

Attendance is important for staying up to date. There is material presented in class, both verbally and visually, that students need to know. Some parts of the class usually can’t be made up such as pop quizzes and group presentations.

There are situations that can arise such as illness or family circumstances that make it impossible to attend class. Sometimes these situations can become long term due to circumstances beyond the student’s control. In situations such as this, online learning opportunities can be a good resource. Online classes make it possible for a student to attend school even during trying or unforeseen circumstances.

Online education provides flexibility so class work can be scheduled around doctor’s appointments or family obligations. For instance, if a child becomes ill and the parent needs to be at home as a caretaker for the child, the parent can do class work at a time that is convenient.

Online resources are readily accessible. Students can find a college online at eLearners.com. There are more and more opportunities becoming available to students who want to experience something different from the traditional classroom.

Class attendance is important to students, and there are opportunities available to make completing a class easier.

There are a lot of tools with today’s technology that can help students who are attending classes online, whether for elementary school, junior high or middle school, high school or college. Here is a short list of some.

Computers and the Internet

A huge help for these students are computers and connecting to the Internet; actually, these tools are essential since students can’t learn without them. It used to be that the desktop computer was the only type of affordable computer for most families, but nowadays, the use of laptops is rising. Many use the Internet to connect to online programs so they can earn a degree. There are students who think, “If I can earn my degree, I can finally get my dream job.”

E-Readers

Another tool that is helpful is an e-reader because it can be used for textbooks that are available electronically. This allows students to study on the go whether they’re waiting at the doctor’s office or for the oil to be changed in the car.

Smartphones

Smartphones are great tools for online schooling because they allow students to do research online and to send emails to professors if there is a question about an assignment. There are a lot of applications that students can use to keep track of assignments and when they’re due.

Many students have found success with online education because it allows a lot of flexibility, especially for students who don’t do well in a traditional classroom.

The teaching profession has undergone many challenges over the years with school systems adapting to a change in culture and technology but overall becoming a teacher is still a rewarding career choice for many reasons.

Influence

Every student is a potentially successful person. Those teachers who have the ability to look past a child’s flaws and see a future leader can influence not only that child but also society. A good teacher not only has this second sight but also the ability to bring these qualities out in a child and make a profound difference in that child’s life.

Education

It is no secret that teaching helps teachers learn more. Teaching requires a vast amount of research and studies on a daily basis to complete classroom activities, therefore teachers become widely read and a source of good and reliable information about most subjects. If someone loves learning then the natural outlet for that love is to teach.

Job Satisfaction

A true teacher’s greatest pleasure is watching children grow in knowledge. In this profession a teacher can experience that on a daily basis and therefore receive the satisfaction of fulfilling their personal “calling” besides this there are other perks as well. For families with small children, having a job in which the hours are the same as the children’s school is a plus. Not to mention summer vacations that the parent/teacher can enjoy with children. Becoming a teacher also offers steady and respectable employment. Teachers are most often guaranteed work and a stable income which is priceless in the midst of a troubled economy.

Education is the key to everything in life. With the right education anything is possible. Literally the sky is the limit, and for the would be astronaut the sky and beyond is the aim.

But it has to be the right kind of education, and with the changes in technology going on at the moment the educators need all the help they can get just to keep up with the latest developments in the field of education.

Today, it’s not unusual to see students in class using either their smart phones and electronic tablets in class, time was when even calculator were banned from the class because the authorities thought their use would mean that the students wouldn’t learn the theory behind the calculations.

Today the average students, be they Grammar school, or junior high gets exposed to a digital age where they will have to be as computer literate as their parents were “book” literate. This meant that the educators have had to develop a whole range of teaching supplies that were never even thought of years ago.

Out went the traditional notebook, pen and pencil (though not totally) and in comes the new notebook with a couple of hundred gigabytes of memory and internet connections.

The classroom doesn’t need to be in a physical location anymore, it can be wherever a computer can be hooked up to the internet, even the middle of a field, lessons have even been taught from space . The possibilities are literally limitless,

The students of today are aiming for the stars, and with the new technology and aids they’ll get there.

Email, text message or instant messaging are the ways that young people usually communicate. Teachers are also learning how to connect with the kids electronically and further their lessons. Instead of writing in journals or notebooks, students are opting for digital methods to do book discussions on message boards and online forums.

More and more schools are embracing the idea of allowing students to have their smart phones in class. A growing number of districts are requiring that all students have electronic tablets which they must bring to class every day. Classroom discussions can then be held electronically and there is a written record of the comments that were made to use for studying later.

In an electronic classroom, an interactive whiteboard is used to display all of the comments being made on a screen for everyone to view. The boards allow for two different classes anywhere in the world to hook up and discuss a book or subject simultaneously. The teacher can also write on the interactive whiteboard to highlight comments or add some of her own.

The interactive whiteboard is replacing the black board in many classrooms, making chalk and erasers virtually useless. These boards give teachers a great deal of flexibility to present lessons in all new ways incorporating the Internet and digital media into their presentation of material. Students today grew up on this type of technology, so to capture and hold their attention, it is wise to embrace it.

The question of teachers’ pay grade is one that’s always been contentious and always been relevant. At the same time as people continue to pay sports players and professional actors breathtaking salaries to do their work of entertaining the public, most teachers get paid poorly. Teachers arguably have one of the most important roles in shaping the country, in so far as they shape its residents, a role outranked only by the parents. Yet teachers receive little material reward for their effort.

Image via Wikipedia

Indeed, it’s hard to make any kind of decent living being a teacher in most places around the country, which has serious consequences because it chases away those who otherwise might be drawn to teach, especially in the public schools. It’s easy to despair at the quality of the public education system in the country, yet if the teachers’ salaries were more on par with those of other movers and shakers in society – the politicians, the financiers, the lawyers, the entertainers – then more people would want to be teachers and those who already are would be more motivated to excel.

As the ever-present debates over how to measure classroom accomplishment have shown, it’s not easy to assess a teacher’s quality. What makes a “good” teacher over a “bad” one? Could not a “bad” teacher for one sort of student be “good” for another? These are challenging philosophical questions and are not to be answered easily. Society must wrestle with and answer them if it is to justify paying teachers real money, but it’s only through properly recognizing the contributions of good teachers that society can ensure a quality educational system.

Education does not mean that a person has a folder full of degrees, it means having an appropriate disposition towards life, towards fellow beings and towards your country. Does this statement seem ambiguous to you? If yes, keep reading this piece of writing to understand what we mean by this statement.

There are a number of so called educated people around us who boast of having the best of the degrees from the best of universities around the globe but when it comes handling the problems of their life, they fail to do so. They keep complaining about the problems of their life and can not make out how to tackle that problem. If a person can not do this simple task then what the purpose of education is. An educated person is the one who is appreciative of the turns of the life and understands that it is a common phenomenon of life and problems are also a part and parcel of life.
Educated person should also an appropriate disposition towards fellow beings. If a person is not sensitive towards the needs of his fellow beings, then in the real terms, the person is not educated. If our fellow being is in problem and we pass through his way because we are getting late for our office, can we be called educated?

Being a responsible citizen is also an important part of education; citizen not only of your country but also of the world. If a person know that his activity may be harmful for him or for others living around him, then, what is the purpose of having knowledge which we can not use and implement in our day to day.

There are a number of libraries in various cities and towns and people love to become members of libraries which are near their place so that they can get the all its benefits. Here are some of the advantages of library. Read on…
People who are lovers of book spend a lot of money in buying books. Usually, they read a book once and then they never touch it again. In such a case, library can help them a lot. A person can take the membership of any public library in their neighborhood and take the books on loan for a few days and can return it once they finish reading it.

Since there is a deadline to return the book taken on loan from library, members have to compulsorily finish it by that time. This is an added advantage for new readers as they would learn to finish books in time and this would enhance their reading skills as well.

A lot of people feel that searching for a particular book in the ocean of books available in the library can be a Herculean task, but it is not so. These days, the catalogues of books are available on the website of libraries along with the shelf where it is placed. Thus, it becomes quite easy to search for a book you are looking for.
Many libraries provide discounts on family membership of the library. This way, the whole family can pay visit to a library and choose the books of their choice. As a result, it becomes easy to inculcate the habit of reading in children as well which can be really advantageous for their children.

Education is an important part of a person’s life. In the beginning, it is very important that parents take care of the education of their children in order to build a strong foundation. If a child does not perform well in the first ten years of education, it is unlikely that he would be able to continue his education for a long time, in a proper manner. Let us look at some of the ways as to how parents can help their child in education.

These days, internet has become an important part of the curriculum of the students. A lot of times, students are asked to complete their projects with the help of internet and if parents are not able help their child in this regard children may soon learn to misuse internet. Parents should learn to use computers and internet to help their child in their education in order to ensure that their child does not lack at all in any respect.

Parents should make sure to keep themselves abreast of what their child is doing in school. For this, they should regularly check the books, notebooks and school diary of their child. This way, they would be able to keep track of the progress of their child, in school. Inculcate the habit of reading in your child right from his childhood so that he acquires good language skills and is able to perform well in all subjects.

Parents- teacher meeting should be given prime importance and should not be missed at any cost. It is through this meeting that parents can get to know the opinion of their child’s teacher regarding his education.

Higher education is not as easy as junior or high school studies. It involves a lot of commitment, hard work and focus. The world as it is today is full of uncertainties and the job market is very tough and demanding. The 2008 financial disaster is still fresh in the minds of people and hence people really need to work that extra bit to make ends meet. In such a situation, there are many students for whom pursuing a higher education in college is fraught with problems and pitfalls. The biggest problem could be that he or she would not be in a position to fund the college students without taking recourse to a part-time or full time job.

In such situations, the only option left for these students who aspire to complete a degree in college is to be on the lookout for a study methodology which will help him to learn while earning. Hence the concept of online colleges came into being and today it is gaining in popularity by leaps and bounds. There are many advantages available with the online college system. Here the student has the liberty to pursue his education at a time and location of his choosing and he is spared of the need to attend colleges physically. Though it may sound a bit strange as to how a student can be good in college studies if he does not take part in classroom session, the reality is that things have moved so fast in the internet field that online classrooms and colleges are as good as any brick and mortar class room. Educational systems online like earnmydegree.com utilize efficient tools and equipment to make distance learning work effectively.

Further online colleges offer the student to choose from a vast collection of colleges not only spread over the length and breadth of the country but also across the world. The teaching methodology adopted in online colleges is in no way below standards.

In today’s world of uncertain job markets, many people are on the lookout for job opportunities away from the formal 9 to 5 bracket. These types of jobs are getting smaller by the day and many employees would like to hire freelancers for doing their jobs.

Coming to freelance jobs, one area which holds out a lot of potential is education and teaching. With the concept of schools and colleges being redefined, there is a growing demand for online teachers. Students are also looking at non-conventional methods of learning and many of them are switching to e-learning which is more convenient and also better in terms of quality. Taking advantage of this changing situation, many teachers are jumping into the bandwagon of online teaching and tutoring.

The advantage of choosing online teaching as a profession are many; first and foremost, the teacher can choose a time and place of his of her convenience. Secondly, if the teacher has the basic infrastructure like a computer and a broadband connection, they can stay connected with the entire world and connect with a number of students. The entire world is their market and hence they are in a position to command a price which is commensurate with their experience and capabilities.

From the students perspective too, they are in a position to choose the best of teachers by browsing and gathering information on the internet. They have the chance to also learn at a time and place which is of their convenience. The rates which they pay to these teachers are also very reasonable because many of these teachers come from third world and developing countries whose rates are low compared to their counterparts in the developed countries.

So online teaching is slowly becoming a very good profession for many who are looking at non-conventional yet stable sources of income, which can be long-lasting.

In these days of high paying jobs of software professionals and fund managers, the profession of teaching is being slowly pushed into the background. Teaching as a profession, especially in schools no longer attracts the attention of the best talent because there are better paying jobs available out there. So what is the future of teaching as a profession? Will it slip further into oblivion or will people still consider it as a good alternative profession, given the fact that there is a big demand for quality teacher?

Teaching continues to be a noble profession as it was from the days of early civilization. A teacher has a special place in society and he or she plays an invaluable part in shaping the character and destiny of a child. So, the importance of teaching as a profession cannot be understated. While all this is fine, one area which needs to be addressed very urgently is the pay and perks that are provided to teachers. Many of them put in hard hours of toil and sincerity and in return they get only a pittance in the form of salary when compared to others who are just equally qualified or sometimes even lesser qualified. This is sheer injustice and has to be remedied. In fact, teachers should be paid much better wages and perks because an entire generation of young children is under the guidance and care of teachers. Neglecting teachers and taking them for granted will work for the short term no doubt, but there will come a time when getting good and quality teacher will become a serious issue. So this has to be nipped in the bud and teachers have to be given their rightful place in society.

From the teacher’s side, they have to ensure total commitment and focus for reshaping many uncut diamonds into worthy individuals.

Education is knowledge and there cannot be anything further to this for people who want to achieve success in life. Education builds character and sets apart a person from the crowd. So, getting educated is extremely important and education does not just mean getting a degree and coming out with high grades. Education is a process of gathering knowledge and not about just by hearting some subjects and vomiting in the examination hall. Subject should be learnt in such a way that the student is able to take back something each day when he or she goes home.

The main people who can make the process of education interesting and more relevant to modern day situation is without doubt the class teacher or the subject teachers. Teachers have a big role to play in shaping the character and destiny and knowledge of a student and they should get into the habit of teaching from the student’s point of view. A typical class room where there is some knowledge being gathered would be one where the teacher is only a facilitator and students do most of the talking. We should try and replace the “chalk and talk” concept with more participation amongst student by which education becomes more meaningful and relevant.

Using modern teaching methods is also very useful in making education interesting and informative for the student. Here, teachers have a big role to play and they should adopt teaching methodologies which is away from the text book and they should try and innovate to the extent possible. The problem with the old method of teaching is that more often than not the whole class room is hijacked by the teachers and the whole exercise becomes a monologue where there is no participation from the student’s side. This is not education all about. Educating a young mind involves a lot of hard work and at times the class could be noisy to a certain degree which should be encouraged. However, a clear line should be drawn between participation and indiscipline.

The concept of adult education may look very out of place in developed countries where the rate of literacy could have already touched 100%. But even today there are vast islands of ignorance and illiteracy throughout the world especially in developing and third world countries in Asia, Africa and South America. The level of ignorance and total darkness as far as education is concerned is something which has to be seen to be believed. The world has a big role to play in removing the darkness of ignorance to these adults and show them some light at the end of the tunnel.

Serious efforts are underway in many such countries of Asia, Africa and other places and a lot of progress is being made. But the sheer scale of the job is daunting and some times it may look almost impossible to achieve. There has to be active participation of both the public and private enterprises in this noble mission and a lot of money should be spent on this especially the rich business and corporate houses. If these people are really keen on doing some acts of philanthropy they should adopt some villages and far flung areas and try and educate these elderly people or even not-so-old adults. Unless this happens, society which is marginalized will not understand the importance and significance of education and will continue to pass on their ignorance to their children and other following generations.

The use of technology as an enabler for removing illiteracy amongst adults should be explored and implemented with a sense of urgency. The internet and other modern means of communication have a great role to play in meeting the objectives of adult education and online distant education schemes should be encouraged. At the end of the day, nations should join together and do whatever it takes to remove adult illiteracy.

The goal of any job you do should be to improve at that job and better your position within the field. You should always be striving for more. Being a teacher is no exception. Teachers have extraordinarily difficult jobs. They often work strange hours and have to bring a lot of work home with them. They work in a field where the solutions to more effective teaching is constantly changing. It’s not hard to feel a little overwhelmed, but that’s all the more reason why a good teacher should be continuing their education.

Many of the teachers that feel truly overwhelmed are the ones that are failing to keep up with the changes that are occurring within their own profession. Getting back into the practice of learning will keep these teachers up to date with advancements and new findings in their chosen field.

A good teacher has a social contract with their students. The students are entering the classroom expecting to learn everything they can from those who are experts on a subject. A teacher who goes back to study new theories in mathematics can be that much more effective for the students who are trying to keep up with their own trends.

Of course, learning a particular subject isn’t the only reason to go back either. Many teachers want to better themselves in their career. Perhaps they would like to make the jump from high school to college or from the classroom to the office. These goals can only be obtained by getting a better education.

If you are interested in getting another level of learning under your belt, the best thing you can do is visit a site like elearners.com and get the background on some of the best online schools in the area. It’s a great resource for those teachers who want to learn but can’t handle the commute. Education is key, even for those who are educators.

What is a sentence? A sentence is nothing a combination of words a combination of words which are arranged properly to convey a proper meaning to the person to whom it is supposed to go. So, while sentences are very important in any language, to have to a good grip over the English language, it is very essential that we have a reasonably good knowledge about English grammar. There are two different schools of thoughts regarding this. One school of thought feels that learning grammar is not necessary for speaking a language, while there is another group which feels that having a basic knowledge about English grammar helps the person to learn the language better.

Both are right in their own sense of the term, but if you really want to master the English language, it is very, very essential that you have a sound idea about grammar. Unless this happens, you would not be in a position to have complete mastery over the language. English grammar is the foundation stone which helps you to build brick by brick on the other things and eventually makes you proficient in the language.

However, for the purpose of speaking it may be enough just to have a basic idea about grammar and speaking involves more the process of using the language rather than mastering the grammar part of it. At the end of the day English grammar is useful for those who want to reach higher levels of success as far as the language the language is concerned.

It can be said with a reasonable amount of surety that English grammar is useful only for those who are in the process of going for some higher education. If you are keen on becoming a professor or lecturer in English with specialization in English literature, grammar is of utmost importance. Even otherwise for those who wish to speak English effectively, a reasonable knowledge at least about the different parts of speech. So knowing good English grammar is a feather in your cap which will take your places in your academic life.

When considering where you are going to teach or even what you are going to teach it is not always about the pay. The most effective teachers chose that profession and continue to teach because it is what they love to do. Of course we all need to be paid for the work we do, but the reality is that we need to love what we do to be successful.

Teachers who are able to work in their chosen specialty, enjoy the school they are working for, and enjoy being with children each day are the most effective teachers. On the other hand those who regret their decision to become teachers, dread the time they spend in the classroom, or have conflicts with their school administrators will bring this into their teaching and will not be as effective at their job and may even begin to resent the students they are supposed to be teaching.

The attitude you have about your job has a direct impact on how it is performed. It is difficult to perform your job to the best of your abilities when you really do not want to be there. Teaching is no different. There are many challenges to be a teacher. The pay may not be as high as other professions. Teachers may feel that they are not paid adequately for the work they do or the degrees they have worked on to become teachers. However, to a teacher who is devoted to education young people and making a difference in this world, those things do not matter.

As teachers become frustrated or burned out with their job it may be simply that it is time for a change. The main thing all teachers have in common is that at some point their focus was a desire to educate. It may be as simple as teaching a different age group that will help renew one’s interest in teaching again!

Teacher’s pay grades will change dependent on the level they are teaching, their geographic area, and the degree they hold. For example in the United States the pay grade for an elementary teacher in the Midwest will most likely be quite different than the pay grade for an elementary teacher in the East or West. Teachers teaching in rural areas will most likely be paid less than teachers teaching in a metropolitan area.

In a comparison of pay scales for K-12 teachers by state you can see a wide range even in the top ten states. According to payscale.com the top ten states with highest yearly pay scales for K-12 teachers in the United States include the following: California $70,394; Massachusetts $65,897; New York $64,583; Virginia $59,585; Illinois $58,756; Texas $58,325; Pennsylvania $56,629; Georgia $56,227; Florida $53,789; and Ohio $53,309.

Overall the lowest paid teachers are found in several different regions around the United States. The ten lowest paying states for starting teacher’s salaries are the following: North Dakota is the lowest paying at $24,872; Wisconsin $25,222; Montana $25,318; South Dakota $26,111; Vermont $26,461; Utah $26,521; West Virginia $26,704; Iowa $27,284; Idaho $27,500; and Nevada $27,957.

In addition to the differences that you can see already there are some schools that are doing a trial run of changing pay scales for teachers dependent on their classroom performance. There are several schools nationwide that are implementing this new program. They are beginning by tracking student test scores to determine overall teacher performance. There is an overall feeling that by offering a raise and/or bonus for improving student test scores, working in lower income school districts, or even being willing to teach subjects that are difficult to find teachers for, that it may renew interest for older teachers and bring new teachers into the profession. It is felt that this program will also hold teachers more accountable and encourage better teacher performance.

To identify the full potential of a person, music education is considered to be an essential area. It is believed that the government needs to increase the status of music education and its educators.
Compulsory Music Education
Continuous and sequential music education program needs to be provided to the students belonging to primary and junior level schools. The Council of Australian Governments which is the main reason behind setting the core curriculum needs to add music as the main subject for all schools.
Earlier, school music education was combined along with drama, media studies and dance under a single category called “The Arts” which proved to be a major disaster.
Many music teachers and instructors are not given proper status in their field of education. Hence, music education needs to be made as essential area in school learning for improving the professional image of the music instructors or teachers.
Change in Australian Culture
A change in the traditional Australian culture will enhance the status of music education. The usefulness of music in enhancing the academic progress of a child needs to be understood by the traditional class of Australian culture.
Groups such as the Music council of Australia have given outstanding performances for bringing a change in the attitude of the Australian culture.
Music Campaigns
More than 200000 students from nearly 850 primary schools were encouraged to take an active part by singing a special song in unison. This was considered to be a great inspiration for both teachers as well as students. Campaigns such as these can bring about a great change and improve the status in music education. Continuing programs to enhance the status in music education is one of the best ways to reach the Australian society. Canada’s amazing concept such as the Music Monday can be implemented in Australia.

National Review on Music Schools
The normal number of submissions the government review board receives in Australia is roughly around 100-200 but during the year 2004-2005, nearly 6000 submissions were witnessed. When the Seares report was submitted, outlining the need to improve the provision of music in schools, it became necessary for providing well experienced staff and sufficient resources at primary level.
Steps Taken by the Government
During the year 2006, a music workshop at national level was conducted by the Federal Government. This was done to implement an action strategy and to put the suggestions in Seares into real practice. From then on, the government has come forward to increase the funding options. As a token of recognition, 13 awards have been given to teachers and principals in the field of music education. Musical schools such as Musica Viva and the Australian Children’s Music Foundation have been funded by the government, so that schools such as these can improve their programs by which many students can be highly benefited.
Music Education – Core Part
For providing quality teaching in music, continues and sequential education needs to be given to children. Another important action that needs to be taken is making effective music education available to each and every child at primary schools.
It is believed that music education plays a vital role in child development. Hence, it should be made a part of the core curriculum that is offered in primary schools.
Future of Music Education in Australia
Even though the Australian Chamber of Commerce and the National Review of Music Education have received a positive response from people in terms of music education, the Australian Primary Principals Association has stated that the extent to which music education will be given importance in future depends upon various factors such as requirements of the students, availability of experienced staff, capability of the school etc.

Harry Broudy believes that moral and social development of a student depends upon development of imagination. If a student is in a position to experience life through the eyes of an artist, he would know how exactly life can be experienced as an actor.
According to Broudy, artistic investigation and personal injury plays a vital role in exploring one’s personal experience. The art movement opens a new door where students can perceive reality in a way which they have never experienced before during their lifetime.
Broudy stated that Arts should be capable of teaching good values that are required on one’s life. It should have the essence to enhance beauty. Last but not the least; arts should be capable of reducing hatred and ugliness that is prevalent in the world.
The ideas put forward by Broudy are as follows
- Artistic appreciation can be better addressed through the usage of models that provide more clarity.
- The problems represented in art can get students to start thinking about real life challenges and problems involved
- Development of ethnic sensibility is of utmost importance
Broudy believed that through art, students could develop or enhance good values. He also claimed that it’s possible to refine the artistic experience. Through aesthetic experience, every form of experience in the educational process could be enhanced.
Education does not deal only with recollection of facts. This would definitely not be sufficient for effective education. A better solution to a problem in education can be arrived at with the help of aesthetic education.
Harry Broudy’s main interest was in writing on topics such as Visual Arts and Music Education. His aim was to improve arts education to be included as a core subject in the curriculum at schools. He wanted arts to be considered as an essential rather than just a good subject.

Schools and individual teachers need to apply for education grants when they do not have enough resources to provide the most favorable environment to their students. It’s possible for the applicants to obtain the required funds if they present an effective proposal.
Request for Proposals
Most of the times, a grant proposal by an educator is written, in reply to an RFP. The Request for Proposals, otherwise known as RFP delineates the kind of details that need to be included in the grant proposal, emphasizing on the variation in details such as requirements, aim, objective, end results, action steps, evaluation techniques and budget.
Requirements
In order to develop the education programs which prove to be beneficial for students, most of the educators, applying for a grant conduct a needs assessment. This helps the educators to recognize what exactly the needs are. For the funders to have a better understanding on how exactly the projected program can meet the requirements, appropriate information such as student demographics and the kind of result that can be achieved should be provided.
Aim, Objectives and End Results
The kind of program that is started with a goal or aim will have a positive impact on the students. Specific objectives are set to assist the educators in achieving the goal. The ends results display the level of achievement.
Action steps
In order to achieve a particular objective that has been set, teachers take necessary action steps.
Evaluation Techniques
Sufficient data as en evident to the final outcome needs to be provided. The data collected throws light on how far the end results have been achieved with the help of the evaluation techniques used.
Budget
The amount of funds that are required needs to be delineated. All the costs related to the action steps taken need to be mentioned.

Educators who wish to teach their students effectively can make use of the grants that are available to them. A part of the government grants is set aside for offering grants to teachers who aim at improving the kind of education that is provided to students.
Obtaining Education Grants
Teachers from the education field who wish to obtain grants can approach grant coordinators. Those individuals who plan to apply for education grants can consult their supervisors, in order to know if the grant coordinator can be useful in completing the process faster. Based on the level of experience, possession of resources and knowledge, the process of obtaining grants can be done more quickly.
A gamut of foundations such as MBNA offer grants to educators, thus enabling them to apply for the ones that best suit their needs.
Online Resources
A number of online websites are available to those educators who are looking for the best place to obtain grants. Grant.gov displays an updated list of the type of grants offered by the government of U.S. The website can be used as a tool to find the application which you need, by narrowing down the search based on a keyword. SchoolGrants is another useful website, where educators can find information pertaining to the different grants that can be applied for.
Drafting a Grant Proposal
Writing a grant proposal is a crucial thing to do and educators seeking grants should have a fair idea on how to draft a proposal. A grant proposal should be given lot of importance, as there are numerous educators out there, waiting to obtain education grants. I’s imperative to get someone proofread the proposal once it’s completed so that any grammatical or typo errors can be corrected. The applicant can also choose to hire a professional writer who can draft a winning grant proposal. Following the above guidelines can help educators apply for grants who wish to improve their education programs.

At a time when education is all about interactive methods of teaching, two-way communication and the use of engaging tools in the learning process, lectures seem to be instruments of a bygone era. Though imperative in certain cases, it is best to keep the length of lectures minimal to ensure active participation of students in classrooms.
Modifying Learning Structures
Effective methods of enabling learning while ensuring student participation can include learning through discovery when embarking on some new piece of information. Under the teacher’s guidance, students should be encouraged to explore, share ideas and investigate information. Moreover, classrooms can be split into smaller group to structure the learning better. Students should also be persuaded to work individually, giving rise to the development of independent thought processes.
Promoting Learning through Activities
There are a large number of activities that the students can be made to be engaged in so as to reduce the need for lectures and inculcate skills where students have to apply themselves through all their senses.
Asking students to answer puzzling questions, solve unique problems, set up debates, make demonstrations, do research and investigation, put up challenges that entail competition, engage in competitive games, enact scenes that can reinforce previously communicated information and sending them on field trips rather than reading about a particular place or thing are all means of facilitating learning without lecturing.
When Lectures are Unavoidable
There may be several occasions when lectures may be the only means of imparting instruction. It is important, then for teachers to understand that they can either make the lecture a completely one-way communication or make possible the delivery of a lecture that the students find interesting and enriching. Using available resources, online tools and enabling hand-on learning can make teaching structures so much more advanced and at the same time, maintain a recall value.

Often, teachers are challenged by students causing trouble and therefore it is an obstacle to teaching. Teachers need to analyze their teaching method and probably bring about necessary changes in their style to adapt to the student requirements.
Adopting Multiple Techniques of Teaching
Teachers may find it both time-consuming as well as tiresome to make changes to their existing method of teaching. However, a positive change in student response can well be the measure of success for this change.
998 types of strategies and styles of instruction are available on the Plasma Link Web Services, which teachers can explore and adapt.
Changing Lecture Patterns
If a teacher realizes that lengthy lectures are dissuading students from performing well, the method of presentation can be changed. The time limit of lectures can be reduced, and learning enriched with the use of interactive activities, audio-visual aids, or discussions and debates.
Breaking the entire strength of the classroom into smaller groups can enable individual attention by the teacher and more team spirit and cooperation by the students.
Changing Learning Styles
There are times when a particular method of teaching may not be interesting to students or may be leading some students to get bored and start thinking of or doing something else. The style of instruction can be changed so that the lesson becomes more appealing and engaging. Integrating tools that apply audio, video or hand-on training methods can bring about changes in interest levels of students.
Conclusion
Teachers usually and conveniently blame students for the distractions and interferences in classrooms. However, often it is the teachers themselves or the teaching methods that tend to be the cause of the problem. It is important for teachers to introspect and open up their minds to accommodate the evolving trends and techniques in strategies concerned with the learning process.

Technophobia is not as uncommon as one would imagine in today’s world. Many people, including teachers fear to use computers, mainly out of lack of understanding of technology. Though every teachers wants to employ the best possible methods of education in the classroom, using technology may prove challenging. This requires devotion of time to become familiar with the various methods by integrating technology into traditional curricula.
Some simple suggestions can help teachers overcome this obstacle.
Seeking Help
Almost every school has few teachers who are comfortable with using technology. A technophobic teacher must not hesitate asking for help from such people and to increase his or her own knowledge.
Learning from Students
It is often encouraging for students who are avid learners to help out their teacher with technology. This is contrary to the belief that the control shifts from the teacher to the student.
Applying Web 2.0 Tools
A host of web 2.0 tools enable easy understanding of technology. Twitter, Google Docs, Wikis, Blogs and other tools ease communications and aid self-learning.
Specific Curricula Information
Correct communication of project information and expectation is essential to be imparted. Very often it is misinformation that leads to erroneous output. The use of rubrics here can ensure the project required is clearly defined.
Supervised Freedom
Teachers often need to keep a strict vigil on their students, to ensure they do not stray from the disciplined path. Technology, however allows students to explore, understand and discover new vistas, leaving little room for a strict watch.
Connecting Learning with Technology
Problem Based Learning allows teachers to integrate technology while dealing with challenging problems. While students are permitted to be as creative as they like, teachers grasp the situation slowly and by means of common available resources.
Technophobia can be overcome by teachers if they have an open mind, as support can be received in a number of ways.

There was a time when online education was frowned upon. Distance learning was looked upon as a sort of joke. In fact most correspondence courses were not accredited by any organization and could be found at the back of almost any periodical – even comic books. This is no longer the case. With the advances in technology and the wide-spread use of the internet, people are using online education to get advanced degrees like MBAs and even Doctorates. Plus, many of the most well know and well respected universities are offering degrees and courses online. So if you are a professor or teacher who wants to have a more flexible schedule and teach online courses and classes, do you you think there are positions open for you? Of course there are. In fact, with a little research, you should have no problem finding somewhere that would love to have your expertise for their online programs.

So how do you transition from a professor who teaches physical classes to an online instructor? Start where you teach now. Many universities offer classes that are also broadcast online. This will give you the opportunity to interact with students differently than the ones that come to a classroom. It will give you an idea how to help them prepare for tests and how to help them pass your class. From that beginning, you can go online and research various institutions that offer online classes and degrees. Tell them about your experience, how you learned from it and how you succeeded. You might even want to take a class or two yourself. Then you can see how a online education provider uses technology to teach classes and how the professor interacts with students. The virtual world is waiting for you. If you want to get out into it an teach, there really is nothing holding you back.

The wide range of web 2.0 tools so easily accessible to teachers can provide opportune tools for enhancing the teaching process. However, teachers are often faced with constraints such as those of time, to completely grasp certain technologies that would be helpful to them. Educators must ensure that they devote a certain amount of time in the course of the academic year to learning such new tool and technologies.
Integrating Web 2.0 with Information
Enrollment in a course, preferable distance learning, enables acquiring the knowledge of techniques related to a particular online tool. The best way to put your capability to test is by applying the technologies learned in another tutorial, checking how the strategy works. This will also help you identify the bugs and resolve them before finally using it in the classroom.
Techniques of Integration
Google Docs, Wikis and Twitter are three of the several web 2.0 tools that can be integrated by teachers.
Google Docs is a free tool by Google for online word, documents, presentations, spreadsheets and forms. It is apt for completing assigned projects, supporting writing and building communication skills. Documents can be accessed online simultaneously by teacher and students thus enabling communication online.
Wikis provide an online mode for creating curriculum and enriching it with podcasts, pictures, links and much more. They can also offer students an interactive and professional webpage.
Twitter is a personal networking tool enabling teachers to engage with other educators online and receive support. Moreover, it helps them keep their students up to the required speed with the latest technological news, current trends and a lot of other information.
Conclusion
Integrating web 2.0 with information is no easy task. A lot of planning and practice requires to be put into the process. The results that this process can achieve, however, can help grow students potential to endless heights.

Conventional classroom curricula can be difficult for autistic students, with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyspraxia, or other developmental disorders. A number of related strategies are available for students, such as those related to classroom management that can help make students with special needs to progress academically along with their contemporaries.
Classroom Management Strategies
Inclusive strategies to help students with ADHD and autistic students can be one method of reducing their anxiety. This can be done by detailed communications, represented by drawings on the board and written plans. An idea that seems to have engrossed a student’s mind can be made the object of a reward, at the end of, or as the last part of a lesson plan. Giving control over their choices to students can be very helpful. An instance of this is asking them to either write an essay or make a drawing.
For most autistic students, focusing on more than one voice at a time is very difficult. It is helpful if the teacher encourages raising hands rather than calling out.
Identifying and Removing Barriers to Learning
An assessment of students with special needs can help teachers identify, for each child, what the barriers to learning are. Part of the teaching curriculum can then be adapted to address this barrier. Incorporation of methods and adoption of programs developed to deal with children with special needs can be brought in, enabling the learning process to continue for the students.
Benefits that Extend Beyond the Limit
The integration of inclusive strategies to address the needs of special students do not benefit only students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia or other developmental disorders that are pervasive in nature but every other student in the education field. They improve and enrich the learning environment and manifest a healthy educational structure.

- “Good Day Sunshine”
- “Here Comes the Sun”
- “Drive My Car”
The above listed songs are fun to sing. Since, few words are repeated; children can easily differentiate the verbs and adjectives used. The songs are appropriate for children belonging to any age group. The lyrics used in the Beatles songs can be clearly as well as easily pronounced by young children.
Songs should be chosen based on the appropriate age group of the children so that it’s easy for them to grasp the pronunciation and spelling of specific words. Certain scenes from the songs can also be enacted to make learning fun in an ESL class.
Apart from the songs being fun and useful for learning English vocabulary, listening and reading skills of the students can be enhanced.

Podcasts are widely being used across classrooms to offer a myriad interesting ways of teaching and learning. Any computer with GarageBand (iMac) or Audacity (PC), webcam or flip camera and microphone can be used.
Podcasts replace traditional methods of student assignments by way of oral presentations, interviews, virtual field trips and much more. They encourage learning through sharing of ideas in interactive ways, and facilitate skills in communication and research among students.
Podcasting Strategies for Teachers
Teachers can make use of a range of strategies for podcasting in the classroom. They can use a microphone enabling mobility. The class newsletter can be converted to a podcast, making it available online. The class website can have guides to tests and examinations posted on it for easy access by students. Podcasts allow teachers to create virtual field trips that can compensate physical trips and enhance the experience. Vocabulary tests by means of audio podcasts are another interesting option.
Podcasting Strategies for Students
Students can use podcasts in several ways. They can present projects through podcasts and display recorded interviews, virtual tours or supporting visuals. A trip to the zoo, museum or planetarium can be captured in a podcast and shared online. Students can also use podcasts for multimedia presentations or interactive posters. Student debates can be recorded on a podcast and shared with others to discuss and add comments. Podcasts can also be created on how-to tasks such as specific math problems, a method of dissection or any other learning process.
Advantage of Using Podcasts
Podcasts offer a creative and interactive means of giving the process of learning a new dimension. While concepts studied in class can be reinforced, students reading, writing and researching skills can also be improved. Furthermore, they inculcate deeper understanding of the subjects learnt thereby moving miles ahead of traditional methods of teaching

For beginning ESL lessons, the topic on animals is an interesting subject for young children. They find it really easy to identify various kind of animals and spell their names in native language. Children can grasp pronunciations and spellings in English more naturally.
Usage of Memory Games
Animal vocabulary can be practiced by playing easy and useful games such as “Going to the Zoo” and “I am packing a suitcase”. These kind of games can be played in groups. The names of animals can be written on board as the students spell them out. To identify and remember the names in an easy way, even flashcards and visual aids can be used by students. There are certain games that consume lot of time where and hence they are unsuitable for a boisterous class with huge number of students.
Usage of Pictionary or Charades
For the entire class to get a hold on vocabulary, Pictionary or Charades can be used. Basic and easy games can be planned by teachers for kids. The teacher can write animals names that are easily recognized by students on small sheets of paper. One student can either mime or use the black board to draw the animal mentioned in the slip. He then picks up a student to identity the correct name.
Usage of TPR
TPR or Total Physical Response is an effective strategy for ESL teaching that is based on conversation through body language. Teachers mostly use this language learning method for teaching children. Students identify animals by making sounds when they are shown a picture or flashcard depicting an animal. The students in a class can be divided into groups for playing such games.
The games mentioned above are easy for children to understand pronunciations and spelling in ESL classes. For more lesson plans on TPR as well as ESL, there are various resources available online.

Engaging students in the classroom and encouraging them to use their imagination has always been a challenge for teachers. With a plethora of technological tools so easily accessible, teachers can offer classroom learning environs that help students keep up to speed with the rapidly changing world of technology. Blogs, Wikis, Twitter, Google Docs and a host of applications make the process of learning much more enriching.
The Best Ways to Incorporate Technology in Learning
In order to inspire thought and encourage discussion, learn to embrace new types of technology. This can be done with the support of other teachers who are already using the technology.
With the support of technology, teachers can make more engaging and interactive the subjects they are experts on. Students are also able to build a personal connect with their learning if their projects, solutions or any other inputs are posted on an online platform where others, including their parents can see. Online tools such as Twitter can be used for creating a pool of experts and other resources, which can be consulted at any point. Any new online tool can first be used on a small scale and later expanded, once the comfort level in using it has increased. Technology is prone to periodic failures. Websites can develop problems, servers can fail and projectors may go wrong. Therefore, it is crucial to have a backup. For example, a test or an alternate version of your website can be maintained to provide support in case your primary website fails. Technological tools are best mastered by first-hand experience and often students can do so before their teacher does. Hence, there is no harm in letting students inform or aid the teacher.
Technology in the Classroom
The use of web 2.0 tools in classrooms is gradually increasing. With the infinite knowledge and resources available online, learning is smoothly being taken levels above the erstwhile textbook method of teaching.

Teachers deal with a number of students on a daily basis and hence organizing the syllabus and presenting a number of topics. Pertinent classroom activities and useful content are included in the topics for students to succeed. Based on the specific need of the student groups, lesson plans are customized.
Contents of Lesson Plans for Elementary Classes
Teachers who handle classes from kindergarten to sixth grade cover a wide range of plan lessons from Math, Science, English and Social Studies. Lesson plans for the entire day are outlined and time is allotted for extracurricular activities such music, arts and physical education.
Factors such as goals, objectives, activity sessions, evaluation strategy are included in the lesson plans, covering each and every subject. During arts classes, various supplies such as painting or drawing kits are required. Teachers who handle elementary classes need to ensure that all the required materials are supplied during class hours. Few students need special attention and for such children, lesson plans can be tailored.
Lesson Planning for Secondary School Classes
The number of students in secondary school is more than that of elementary classes. More detailed lesson plans are drafted for subjects such as Algebra, Physics, English etc. Unlike elementary class subjects, the allocated time for each subject is usually more. Few similarities in elementary class and secondary class lesson plans include goals and objectives. Skills worksheet and journal writing are included as warm up sessions.
Lesson Plans for Special Needs Students
Not all students have the same grasping or learning skills. At times, teachers need to pay more attention to few students. According to this, the lesson plans may be scheduled. For tailored made education plans, behavior journals and forms may be downloaded from few online websites. Language skills may be added to the lesson plans in case teachers need to handle ESL classes. Important aspects such as reading, writing, listening and speaking need to be covered.

Online presentations, Blogs and Bookmarking resources form the three categories from which the top six online tools for teaching and learning have been selected. The selection was based on a strict review of available online resources, in synchronization with inputs from teachers.
Tools for Presentation
Among the top web 2.0 tools for making classroom or business presentations, the two selected are SlideShare and Prezi. SlideShare comprises presentations made in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Docs and can be inserted in a class wiki or blog. It allows YouTube videos, Flickr or other images, audio and video podcasts and documents to be easily embedded.
Prezi moves beyond the traditional way of making presentations. It allows for a more visual method of presenting points on a single big slide. Videos, images and idea bullets can be inserted to make the presentation more interesting.
Tools for Blogging
Among the web logging tools used in K-12 classrooms, the top two selected are Twitter and WordPress. Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that helps students to keep abreast with current trends, debates and stories related to their subjects of interest thus improving their language skills.
WordPress is a user-friendly blogging tool with unlimited storage space. Online versions of teaching material can be provided to students with WordPress.
Tools for Social Bookmarking
Delicious and Diigo are the top two bookmarking tools for sharing resources online. Delicious allows students and teachers to create a collection of pertinent articles and websites for use in the classroom. They can also create a class account for use during lessons, in which students can select the online resources to be included.
Diigo is quite similar to Delicious. In addition, it offers a tool to highlight content and add -sticky notes. It also enables students to search bookmarks using tag, text, sticky note or title.

These six online tools provide enriching and interactive learning opportunities in classroom environments and make education methods more engaging.

The film Opus which was released in 1995 revolves around the impact fine arts had on students in music education. The message given by Mr. Holland in the movie speaks emphasizes the importance of music in education field. It should be made a core subject in the curriculum of every high school.
Impact of Fine Arts on Students
The goal or aspiration of every student varies. Not every student would have an ambition to excel well in Mathematics or Science. Even though not all students may be interested in choosing Sports as their area of core interest, a major portion of the budget in high schools is set aside for sports.
Normally, creative and enthusiastic students who take active participation in drama productions and school orchestras are believed to be inclined to arts.
How Does Society Consider Arts?
A Sunday night football may be considered more important than a concert that is broadcast on a TV channel. At times, schools curtail the budget by eliminating arts education.
Distributing the Budget Evenly
In schools, budget curtails can be equally distributed among all areas in the curriculum with school sports included in it.
There are many students who are not even aware of the basics in Arts. Those who have a fair knowledge about other subjects may or may not know even the definition of the word symphony. The extent to which music is given importance in high school directly reflects the knowledge possessed by students. Due to budget constraint, high school students do not have much knowledge about music.
Does educational success depend upon obtaining a high school diploma alone? Are sports activities sufficient for a student’s overall development? Involvement and interest of students in music helps in the overall development. Schools that defund musical programs destroy the very purpose of human existence.

In collaboration with the National Archives, South Fork High School teacher from Stuart, FL, David Traill, has produced an online lesson plan on the American Revolution titled Teaching with Documents: Images of the American Revolution.
A concise background recaps that various factors contributed to the success of the American colonies in their struggle for independence. It goes on to provide an account of the revolt, the economic and political repercussions, the subsequent surrender and negotiation.
Seeds of War: Lexington, Concord and Ticonderoga
Initial encounters at Lexington, Concord and Fort Ticonderoga led to the formation of a unified plan, better known as the Declaration of Independence. These were the incidents that formed part of the onset of the war.
The lesson plan is a narration of the challenges faced by the American soldiers, their efforts at receiving support from French forces and the British attempts at keeping up with unrelenting American rebellion. It is not a linear account of the Revolution. Rather, it offers a critique of the various aspects of the war, and the factors governing the successes and losses. It also allows students to analyze the war in terms of a historical-political event.
National Archives: Documents, Engravings and Education Programs
An excellent compilation of documents and steel engravings provide this lesson plan appropriate illustrations to support. Some of these include the capture of Fort Ticonderoga at the foot of Lake Champlain, Benjamin Franklin at the court of France appealing French aid, Benedict Arnold’s Oath of Allegiance and the surrender of General Cornwallis at Yorktown in 1781.
Education programs created by the National Archives cater to students of every age. Workshops and seminars held at its regional facilities, educational tours of its facility in Washington and demonstrations of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution comprise part of the program.
A plethora of information pertaining to the game show on live family history can be accessed online.

Mathematics teachers face challenges similar to teachers of ESL, who have to balance their instruction between native English speaking students and English Language Learners (ELLs).
In their latest book on the SIOP model, titled The SIOP Model for Teaching Mathematics to English Learner, authors Jana Echevarria, MaryEllen Vogt, and Deborah J. Short have thrown light on this very issue.
The SIOP Model: A Summary
The Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model has come into practice following years of research on instructing ELLs. Initially designed as a mechanism for research observation, it developed into a structure comprising eight chief elements: Preparation, Building Background, Comprehensible Input, Strategies, Interaction, Practice and Application, Lesson Delivery, and Review and Assessment.
Former SIOP books have served as a resource for teaching elementary ELLs.
Teaching Mathematics: Challenges faced with ESL students
It was following thorough discussions and debate that the authors of the SIOP model books lay the focus on categorization on the basis of level of education.
While the focus for primary school level includes abstract math concepts and language to very young learners, at the upper elementary level, students are encouraged to supervise their own thinking.
In the transitional stage of middle school, the focus of the learning is more on building an interesting, interactive, challenging, yet safe atmosphere. Eventually, for high school, a high level of proficiency in mathematics is aimed to be achieved.
Deborah J. Short, Jana Echevarría and MaryEllen Vogt, Ed.D are all experts in the field of ESL education. While Echevarría and Vogt are university professors, Short is a professional development consultant and a senior research associate at a renowned Linguistics center in Washington. Even though the model was designed keeping in the mind the ESL students, English speaking students can also receive benefits out of it.
